5 Healthy Habits I Incorporate Daily

Each day I focus on putting my best foot forward and being better than I was yesterday. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection. There are plenty of things I do in my daily routine but here I will be sharing the top five things I make sure I do every day with little to no fail.

Drink Water

Simple yet highly effective! I make sure to begin each morning with 24 to 32 ounces of water usually with lemon, lime or liquid chlorophyll for added flavor and benefits. This has significantly improved my digestion. When we sleep we often become dehydrated so by hydrating first thing in the morning can give your body a nice little jump start. I have completely ditched coffee for water. I also continue to drink plenty of water throughout the day to remain hydrated, curb cravings and flush out toxins.

Sweat/Stretch

This one is a two in one but they go hand in hand for me. Exercising consistently has been a huge struggle for me over the years, but I now make it a priority to workout hard enough to break a sweat every morning or afternoon. Sweating is purifying and a way to release toxins, stress and negative energy. Improving my flexibility is also a priority of mine since I am not a nimble as I use to be during my cheer and dance days, so I’m sure to stretch each day to work towards that.

Rise Early

I spent most of my life being the last to rise and practically slept my life away as a teen. The thought of getting up before noon if I didn’t absolutely have to (i.e for school) was torture. As I became an adult I learned to embrace and appreciate the advantages of waking up early. For me I am most productive earlier in the day. My brain is more clear, I feel more focused, more creative and ahead of the game. I like to get my day start at 5 or 6 am during the week and will rarely sleep past 10 am on weekends. Proper sleep is another important area that contributes to this, but I’ll save that for another time.

Gratitude

This is a practice I recently implemented about six months ago. I have always been a grateful person, however I was not always mindful or intentional about expressing my gratitude for my continued blessings. Each morning as soon as I wake up I like to jot down or at least think about a few things I’m grateful for. This could be anything from a good night’s sleep, my family, my health or good weather. No matter how big or small I like to thank the universe for all that I have. This reduces my need to complain or feel negative and really starts my day on a high vibration.

Leafy Greens

I pride myself on eating a clean and balanced diet. One thing I am sure to consume on a daily basis is dark leafy greens. Green juice, green smoothies, salads and whole, fresh green vegetables are a daily staple for me. As a woman of childbearing age and actively trying to conceive, I try to do my due diligence in getting adequate amounts of folate through my food. Greens are also extremely nutrient dense and alkalizing. If there is only one thing you can do to improve your daily routine, please throw in some extra greenery, your body will thank you.

Alexandria, reading this was like reading my favorite book! I’m so excited to continue this journey with your inspiring blogs. You are sharing valuable experiences that most people can easily adapt to. When you say, “it’s about progress, not perfection”. Do you know how many aspects of our lives that we can apply this to? So many!!!!! I’m grateful for this entire blog. It has made my night. Sure, most of us know these things, but I must admit I have been more mindless than mindful just because I have allowed myself to overthink. Reading this was like a refresher of just how complicated we can make the simplest things. I’m moving forward with this blog because everything mentioned in it will definitely make my life and the people around me better. Thanks Alexandria!
